Building Confident, Connected, and Capable Female Leaders
When Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) partnered with Performastery Leadership Facilitation to deliver the Leaders Unleashed Program, the goal was clear - to strengthen leadership capability across their organisation and support the next generation of confident, capable, and inclusive female leaders. This initiative aligned directly with SLSQ’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Strategy 2024–2027, which commits to removing barriers, increasing representation, and fostering a culture of belonging across all areas of the organisation. By investing in the growth of female leaders, SLSQ is actively creating pathways for greater gender equity in leadership, ensuring its leadership profile reflects the diverse Queensland communities it serves.
Before the program, many participants described themselves as passionate and hardworking but unsure how to translate those strengths into confident, consistent leadership. Some struggled with time management and self-belief, while others were navigating new roles and leadership responsibilities for the first time. Delivered over several months, the program combined live workshops, practical application tasks, guided reflection, and one-on-one coaching to help participants turn leadership theory into daily practice - building confidence, accountability, and self-awareness through real-world experience. Through Fiona’s coaching and Performastery’s structured learning approach, participants developed the tools and mindset to:
• Lead with confidence and clarity, turning self-awareness into decisive, authentic action.
• Empower others, moving from “doing it all” to building trust, coaching, and accountability.
• Communicate with impact, developing skills in feedback, boundary-setting, and conflict resolution.
